Trauma-Informed Care (TIC)
Our practice utilizes an in-depth trauma-informed care policy and procedures for each of the client's that we provide services. Trauma-informed care (TIC) is defined as attempting to understand the current and past traumas of the client, facilitating client participation, and avoiding retraumatizing the client (Rajaraman et al., 2022). In order to provide TIC, our policy and procedures ensure that our providers acknowledge trauma and its potential impact, ensure safety and trust between the provider and client, empower each client to provide input on all strategies (regardless of the client's language and communication abilities), promote choice and shared governance, and emphasize skill building over behavior modification.
